Your mail order and specialty pharmacies
SmithRx remains your pharmacy benefit manager for 2027. Because SmithRx owns no pharmacies of its own, you may be directed to a particular partner to get the lowest price on a given drug.
Mail order

Specialty drugs filled through mail order are a $0 copay on both medical plans.
Mail order — four months free
A 90-day mail order supply costs two copays instead of three. Over a year that works out at roughly four months of prescriptions free compared with filling monthly at retail.
Sending a prescription to Amazon Pharmacy
- e-prescribe — ask your doctor to send it to Amazon Pharmacy Home Delivery.
- Fax — (512) 884-5981.
- Phone — (855) 206-3605.
Amazon Pharmacy is fully accredited, fills most brand and generic medications, offers 24/7 access to a pharmacist, free shipping and upfront pricing.
SmithRx Connect — lowering the cost of expensive drugs
- Patient Assistance Programs — many high-cost specialty drugs can be obtained through advocacy foundations and grants. SmithRx navigates the applications for you.
- Copay Coupon Maximization — where assistance isn't available, the Copay Max program captures manufacturer coupon savings.
- International Sourcing — a contracted network of first-tier-country pharmacies for select qualifying medications.
Qualifying specialty medications obtained through these routes are available at a zero copay.
Access Plus
If you take a medication that qualifies, a SmithRx specialist will contact you by phone or email. If approved, the medication ships to you free of charge.
- You'll e-sign an authorization so the specialist can apply on your behalf.
- Some applications need extra documentation, submitted by secure encrypted email.
- Some need your doctor to submit forms.
- You cannot opt out — Access Plus is part of the plan's benefit design, and participation is required for continued coverage of those drugs.
- Still required even if a copay coupon already brings your cost to $0, because the employer pays the remainder.
- If denied, and the drug is on the formulary, you continue through the normal pharmacy benefit.
- Questions: (844) 454-5201.
Formulary, prior authorization and step therapy
- Find your formulary in the member portal at member.mysmithrx.com or in the SmithRx app. It changes over time, and being listed doesn't by itself guarantee coverage.
- Find My Meds — enter a prescription in the portal or app to see the lowest-cost pharmacy for it and your estimated out-of-pocket cost.
- If your drug isn't covered, there may be a lower-cost alternative. If you've exhausted alternatives, your doctor can seek an exception on medical necessity grounds.
- Prior authorization — some medications need clinical review first. Your doctor submits it; you usually need do nothing. Non-urgent requests take about 5 days and up to 15; urgent ones under 3 business days. Track the status in the portal or app.
- Step therapy — some conditions require trying one medication before the plan covers another.
What it costs
Your copays are set by whichever medical plan you're enrolled in — see the Medical Plan page for the full retail and mail order tables.
In short: generics are $10–$20 for a 30-day retail fill, and a 90-day mail order supply costs two copays. Specialty drugs are $0 through mail order.
Who's eligible
